As the students enter third grade in Mr. Albert's class they notice 24 cans of Play-Doh on a table. The wonder and excitement begins. They are then instructed to create something that is important to them, or if they can't think of anything they can create something that represents their summer.
The collaboration and the communication is a great way of getting to know their classmates and new surroundings. Students made amazing creations, some made friends, others made a pet that was no longer around, and one even made a Tiki to symbolize going to a Luau this summer.
The fantastic thing about this activity (besides getting to keep the Play-Doh) was we learned just a bit about everyone in the class.
