<![CDATA[Albert Einsteins - Blog]]>Thu, 18 Feb 2016 11:01:13 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[New red belt winners]]>Fri, 31 Oct 2014 10:36:41 GMThttp://mralbert.weebly.com/blog/new-red-belt-winnersWe have completed another week and Mr Albert's classroom. There are several students who have earned their red belts which is for 100 points on Classdojo, congratulations. I have no doubt that the rest of the students will soon earn their red belts.

Fridays in the classroom we end with Friday circle. This is a time where all the students can share what went well what didn't go so well, and set goals for the week. Some of the best ideas in the classroom has come out of Friday circle. Last Friday the students decided that our goals should be to start doing a better job on reader's response. They decided that one of the class dojo points should be for having a great readers response. What a great idea!

Genius Hour projects are slowly rolling in. Genius hour is a time where students can work project of their choice. There are many different varieties of projects going on in my classroom. The end product can be as varied as the project it is exciting to see what the students choose to do.

Our trip to the Plymouth Plantation was fantastic and the weather cooperated beautifully. The students got to visit the English village and also the Native American village.

The students interacted with the pilgrims and learned how they went about daily activities. The students asked questions such as" how long does it take to build the house?"
The students took notes on what they heard and what they observed. When we got back to the class the students shared what they learned. Many of their creations can be seen at Edmodo.com .

<![CDATA[Wall Of Fame]]>Wed, 24 Sep 2014 16:52:03 GMThttp://mralbert.weebly.com/blog/wall-of-fameCongratulations to the following students, who made the wall of fame. Anna, Calvin, Victoria, Maya, Charlie, Sophia, Anthony, Kendra, they did an outstanding job on their Lit. circles and have earned the right to be on the wall of fame.
The students in Mr Albert's class have also completed their first level up for Gonoodle. We have completed the avatar, McPufferson and are currently working on Bart Reynolds. The students have also come up with the idea of having one student a day pick the brain breaks; we call this our aerobic instructor.

Students now have a Discovery Education user name and password. They are able to utilize Discovery Education to view videos and other assignments in science and social studies. One of the first activities on Discovery Education that we completed was viewing three videos and voting on which one we thought was the best. Students are able to go on Discovery Education during school hours and also at home.

I would like to think all parents, grandparents, and other supporters for attending open house. It was great to meet everyone and answer some questions. As always, if you ever have any questions please email me or instant message me on Class Dojo.

<![CDATA[IPads in the Classroom]]>Thu, 11 Sep 2014 16:34:36 GMThttp://mralbert.weebly.com/blog/ipads-in-the-classroomThis week in Mr Albert's classroom we begin using iPads. The students work in partners using the program sketch to annotate text and pictures . The students then saved their work on Edmodo and folders in Google Drive.
The students also use iPads to place notes and comments in Edmodo about other students work. They also learned how to respond on a blog using complements connections and questions. The class hopes to use the iPads many times during the next coming month.
The parental code in Edmodo can be found on the student page. This code allows parents to view posts by their students and by the class on a separate account. As always, if you have any questions or comments please email me, message me at class dojo, or you can leave a message on this blog under the comments section.

<![CDATA[Week Two Start of Routines]]>Tue, 02 Sep 2014 16:44:39 GMThttp://mralbert.weebly.com/blog/week-two-start-of-routinesHello all,

Welcome to the start of week number two. As the week begins some of the routines that will come up daily or weekly will start to be introduced. I would like to inform you about just two of these today, GoNoodle and Class Dojo.

GoNoodle is a website that helps us keep track of our physical activity and it provides an excellent resource to keep our bodies moving throughout the day. It is a long day in third grade and students need time and and outlet to move. GoNoodle lets the class pick a monster to improve through activity. The website contains many videos to have the students follow and participate. The students learn how to throw a shot put, do a triple jump, or run the hurdles. The website also contains a whole section on concentration activities such as yoga. (ask them how difficult it is to perform the dancing bear) The website also includes activities to help them relax with breathing exercises.

The students in Mr. Albert’s third grade have been using a program to help improve their effort in class. This program is called Class Dojo, and it is a program that awards students when they are on task, helping others, or generally doing the right thing. They earn points and are working towards earning belts for their progress. The program allows the students to pick and modify their own monster avatar and keep track of their progress at home. The program also sends home weekly reports on how the students are doing and what type of points they have earned. The program can be downloaded onto a mobile device and can be used in the hall, at assemblies, even on field trips.

As a class we need supplies to help us stay healthy. If you could send in any of these much needed supplies it would be appreciated.
 • Kleenex
 • Paper Towels
 • Hand Soap
 • Wipes

<![CDATA[First Day with Play-Doh]]>Wed, 27 Aug 2014 16:52:12 GMThttp://mralbert.weebly.com/blog/first-day-with-play-dohAs the students enter third grade in Mr. Albert's class they notice 24 cans of Play-Doh on a table. The wonder and excitement begins. They are then instructed to create something that is important to them, or if they can't think of anything they can create something that represents their summer.
The collaboration and the communication is a great way of getting to know their classmates and new surroundings. Students made amazing creations, some made friends, others made a pet that was no longer around, and one even made a Tiki to symbolize going to a Luau this summer.
The fantastic thing about this activity (besides getting to keep the Play-Doh) was we learned just a bit about everyone in the class.
